How high are your nest boxes off the ground? I've got mine facing the wall and about 18inches off the ground. My birds are 18 weeks, and like yours haven't shown the slightest interest in them.
One thing I've learned about chcikens is they like to get used to something before they even get on it or in it. I built a new roost for mine, and when I finished it and put it in they didn't want anything to do with it. I just let them be and after a couple of days they figured out what they were for. Lol. Same with nest boxes, they wanted to check them out an see what they were cause it's new thing in their house. I remember my 2 roosters inspected it before any of the girls went to check it out. I guess they liked it cause I get 67 eggs a day in the nest boxes. They will figure it out. Amazing littler critters.
wow - what a cute setup! like the idea of pans for the roosting litter. i switched to a laminated countertop to put under poles for ease of cleaning but your idea looks much easier. also, what are those nesting boxes made of? they look like storage bins? (you might want to put a 2-3" lip at the front to keep beddiing inside once the boxes start getting used)
thanks guys...sandrachx...yeah, the trays work great!..easy clean-up!!..
...the nest boxes are a type of storage/organizer thing....with doors(that i can remove)....they can stack on top of each other with these little pegs that hold them together....they are made out of some type of pvc material...now..i just have to get them to use them!!...
