I have a goose who is a year old and started having trouble walking about a week ago. Every time she gets up to walk she has trouble keeping her legs underneath her and falls forward. She has been mating with our gander and I was thinking maybe he was too ruff with her and possibly injured her. She is acting alert, drinking water and up until today has been eating. She was laying regularly and the last time she laid was 2 days ago. Is it possible she could be egg bound even though she laid an egg? I have her in the house and put her on a heating pad hoping it might help. Helping what, I do not know?

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what is the problem with your goose might be, but there are some really knowledgeable people on here and hopefully someone with more info will reply. Hang in there.

Thanks for the postings. I took her to the vet today and it turns out she has metal poisoning. X-ray confirmed she has swallowed a few sheet metal screws we had in the driveway. Started her on shots of antidotal chelating agents and antibiotics. Seems to already be working since she can know stand a take a few steps without falling.
