I know!!!!! I have one. I bet it is a short haired Havanese. I have one! See my avitar. The only reason the ears look like they are standing up in my avitar is because he is looking up.
Mine is Bandit. He is 3. He has a great personality too. Wants to be by you, but gives you space. He stays by me outside and never wanders off. If I am gardening he will just sit and hang out. Some times I think he is part Sheep dog because he will sit by the back door and just watch. Also, when we had chickens he was a GREAT hearder. Not kidding. He would not hurt them but round them up for me. Also, he loves to make you laugh. Will do more tricks if he knows he is entertaining you. He is very friendly, but not overly. He would never think of bitting anyone either. The only down side is I don't know how such a little dog (9pounds) could shed so much.
So what do you think. Lots in common? If so, the bread is not very common and usually long haired only. Bandits hair is so soft, almost like silk. Even kind of fly away.
The personality sounds exactly the same. she will stick right with me outside. She loves to sun herself and will even sit on the hearth soaking up heat from the fireplace. Some summer days she asks to go outside to escape the air conditioning...she will just lay in the full sun and bake. She has never been overly hyper and she listens quite well. She does shed pretty bad certain times of the year (when she is blowing her coat) but does not shed as much as a short haired chihuahua does. She loves everyone, especially kids even though she was not raised with kids. She isn't nervous or shaky, except when it's thundering and then she goes and hides under the bed. Otherwise, she is very calm and stable. The rarity of your breed makes me thing she may be part papillion (because they are very common around here) but the personality sounds more like Havanese. I guess I'll never know for sure, but it's fun guessing.
I found out about the breed because my cousin in Tennessee has one. Not pure, but 3/4 havanese 1/4 poodle. Tinkerbell. I wish I had a picture of her for you. Tinkerbell is the reason I got Bandit. Not because of the look but because of the easy going personality. They are little gems. Look on line for the temperment of the Havanese. The short hair havanese are not recognized by AKC, they are a fluke. But the temperment between the long hair and short hair is the same.
Pomeranian would have smaller ears and that face (although thats a very chi face), and pom mixes often dont pass on many pom looking characteristics. She's darling, whatever she is.
