I have a friend with two chickens, what should we do with them if she goes on vacation? We though about leaving them with another friend with chickens but then soon realized hers might get picked on by the older chickens if we left them there? Vacation would be about three to five days for her. What about fresh water and spilling there food. I thought if they run out of food they could eat bugs. But she's worried about coyotes and hawks trying to get in the coop with no one home to stop them! PLZ HELP!=-O :barnie

Hi there!
Welcome to BYC.
This video should help you find your way around the site better, enjoy!

It's really up to your friend to outline what has to be done for her chickens. She would be quite remiss if she didn't do so. She should know you aren't familiar with caring for them.
Many people just UP and take off for a few days, and expect the chickens to be fine. Some days things go well, some times they go very bad -either with flock wiped out by predators, or even having birds stolen.
Would you be staying at her home while watching them? Or just coming over a couple times a day to check on them?

Im won't be the one watching them we don't know what to do with them while she away so I posted this question for her but I appreciate your thoughts so far
