HELP! My lil turkeys are covered in tiny ticks!!!!!!!!!!!! What can I do to get rid of them?

The thing with DE is it does take a while. It's a physical action...on a microscopic level it's very sharp and when it gets into the joints of any bug with a carapace, it works back and forth as they move, cutting small holes which let the bug's moisture out and they die. The food grade (which is all I ever use) is non-toxic when ingested by birds or people. The only real danger is if it's breathed in...it can irritate the lungs. I keep some in a shaker bottle that has reasonably large holes (ie a parmesan cheese holder) and sprinkle it on their bedding...wearing a mask and when the birds are outside. I put it in the nesting boxes as well. As they scratch and lie on it, it'll work its way into their feathers. If they have a spot where they dust bathe, this is a great place to put it! This is a long term and ongoing help.

For your immediate clearing, go with the vaseline, sevin and such and use the DE. Once the main infestation is gone, the DE should help keep them at a tolerable level.
