I'm sorry to hear about your issue with your hen too.
Hopefully it just is the molting...

I figured out the problem about why she won't come out!
Last night we heard her screaming and found out something was trying to get into her cage.
So i'm thinking that every night something like a raccoon has been scaring her which is why shes been acting so scared and sad.
We are putting a flood light out their and my dad will try to hit the culprit with his pellet gun.

Ya i feel really bad about it.
We should be done with her new coop in a day or two so i can move her in asap!
no predators can terrorize her there.

Awww, poor baby. You might need a little more fire power than a pellet gun - DH pops squirrels with one, but not sure it would actually kill a coon. We normally trap the racoons and then take care of them the next day.

But good luck, hope you get it and your poor terrorized chicken can get back to being happy again.

We normally don't like to kill them because sometimes scaring them off with the pellet gun makes them not come back.
But if it really becomes a nuisance i think i will trap it and get animal control to relocate it or something.

But we should be moving her into her new coop soon and no predator will be able to bother her there.
We are keeping an eye on her but shes pretty smart.

We had another occurrence with the raccoon tonight.
Finally saw it and its huge! Size of a small dog or bigger.
My father managed to shoot it but it still came back, and with another huge coon!
2 huge coons tormenting my sweet hen! They got shot a few more times...haven't seen them yet but on are guard.
we have moved her to the garage because we want her to sleep well and safe.
The raccoons better watch out...i gave them warning but now there will be no mercy..

Ohhhh, we have caught a couple like that - filled up the cage. So glad you moved your lady to the garage so she can have some peace. You have to get them - they will just keep coming around looking for a free meal.
