My 3 day old white silkie has only one eye open. She is definitely on the saller side compared to the others. I ordered 11 total from Ideal that I received Thursday. I have isoltaed her with another that has spraddle legs. Any suggestions? She does seem lethargic. Is this contagious? Please help! I have been searching for hours online to no avail! Thanks!

Sometimes in shipment the get joseled around and one of the others could have scratched the eye.I would use warm water compresses as often as you can and you can also go to a pet store like Pet Smart and get an opthalmic triple antibiotic to use at least three times a day.

As far as the sprattle leg goes, use paper towels and if that dosen't work then put an old wash cloth or hand towel in and that will give it better traction. I had a silkie that happened to and when regular news paper and paper towels didn't work I put a hand towel in and with in 1 day it was up and walking normaly.

Hope this helps,I was a vet tech/surgical asst for 17 years.

Thanks for the replies so far. Since I moved her and I think stressed her out by putting her in with the one with that has spraddle legs, she does not seem to be the last few hours. I am keeping a very close eye on her.

That happened to one of the silkies I hatched back in the fall. Her eye didn't look swollen/infected just closed. I gently pried it open and put a very small amount of neosporin around the lid. I had to do it about 2-3 days in a row before it stayed open on it's own - she was fine after that. - just a suggestion though.
