Help my owner, he's worried that I'm just sitting on this egg all day.

Hi, I'm Lucy a 2 yr old americana hen, no boys in the yard, I want a boyfriend so bad, but my master says I'm not old enough to go dating yet, and I've been sitting on this egg for 2 days, today I havent' eaten or gotten off this egg to drink or anything. My owner is worried. This is unusual for me as I like to roam the yard with my sister Ethyl. Can anyone tell my master what to do. We live in south san jose. thanks!

Well, you have 2 options. You can find some fertile eggs to put under her and let her hatch them, or you can try to break her broodiness, lol. I've not had to break a broody yet because none of mine have ever gone broody. But there are plenty of threads on here about it. I'd search for "Breaking a broody hen". Good luck!!

sometimes chickens can be broken of broodyness if they are kept off the nest or are constantly being taken off the nest. (btw hens don't have to have fertilized eggs to "go broody'')

unless you break her broodiness or give her fertilized eggs, she could die of starvation. but since it's only been two days it shouldn't be too hard to break her broodiness
