Help!!! My Pekin Duck Has An Egg Stuck!!!

Oh, this is so difficult.

My pet snake had a prolapse once. I used KY jelly and a rectal thermometer and carefully reinserted the tissue. Then I gave her opportunities to swim in warm water every day to restore the muscle tone and hold her insides in.

In the duck's case - you said she had just laid an egg. But you think there's another one in there. Have you been able to feel it? Is it possible what you saw was her innards? If there's not an egg stuck at this point, I wonder if you could replace the prolapse and wrap her tail with vet wrap, and keep her in a clean quiet environment for a few days. Actually, instead of KY, I think I'd use triple antibiotic.

If you're up for it, I think you can try to deal with the prolapse. I did a little looking, and found some more detail - this is for a chicken, but I reckon it's going to help you with your duck. I hope I'm not stepping on toes with this link:

It goes into more detail than I shared with my snake's prolapse. But the idea is the same - clean the protruded part (probably the oviduct), lubricate it, gently replace it, keep the duck quiet.

Keeping her in a dark place for a few days, with a light diet to slow down or stop egg production for a while makes sense to me. It's a bit of effort, but might save her. Also, keep her away from other ducks so they won't peck at the prolapse if it happens again.

Thanks for all the help guys but nothing worked. She started to throw up and became very listless. I didn't take any pictures I couldn't bring myself to do that. It was gruesome, something I didn't want to share. The eggs she did lay have been really big and I think the one today was just too big. Now I'm worried about my remaining duck she is going to be so lonely! I'm a hurting unit right now, who would of ever thought it would hurt sooo much!
