I have two ducks, a Rouen and a Pekin. They are six weeks old. When I first got my ducks, (June 2) they were perfectly fine! After a week or two I noticed my Pekin started slipping and had a hard time balancing. I use pine shavings for bedding. She has limped ever since then but today I noticed she was laying in the same spot all day. I tried moving her and she couldn't walk and used her wings to balance. I felt her leg joint under her wing and it seemed to be sticking out farther than the other. When she stands her hurt leg turns in and she puts it on top of her other foot. Someone please help! I can't stand to see my sweet Pekin in pain! :(

Type niacin deficiency in the search bar at the top of the page. It sounds as if your duckling is suffering from niacin deficiency. This can be remedied by adding a source of niacin to their diet. Good luck.

@sourland I haven't found plain niacin yet. But I have been using B Complex in their water. I haven't seen much improvement yet. But maybe after a few more days!

Well, tomorrow I have an appointment to put my poor baby to sleep.. Everything has went downhill and she is just miserable. I'm so upset about it. I hope no one else has to go through this! :(

I am so, so sorry. Did she not improve at all over the past couple of months?
