Help, my pullet is crooked!!!!!

Above post is right don't loose hope and have patients because this treatment does work and as above post says it takes around three weeks. My first case was completely healed by three weeks my second case is doing great almost healed but still has a slight Crick and she's still inside getting treatment. They're different severity of wry neck. Both my birds were extreme cases. Unable to eat walk one was dragging her head under her body between the legs. My second case looked like a Parkinson's patient she was shaking head twisted down and to the right. Both birds doing flips when trying to move
Now both are walking eating up and great! Wry neck itself is not a disease but a symptom of something. Usual cases are caused by nutrition injury or heredity. If you have any questions at all I'm really happy to help! I know its very difficult seeing your bird in this state but with treatment and patients she will be better.

I followed the advice you gave me when my DottieMay was attacked, at one point it looked bad bad and I thought I was going to have to cull her but the next day she was up walking around, she is still on treatment but I am in the process of starting to wean her off of it. I think she will forever have a slight crick due to the attack but she is the queen of the castle so to speak. She likes to roost on my son's castle while he plays and as you can see her head is straight but when we call her name she cocks it off to the side and comes running cheeping. Ham boning at its finest!

I'M back, My pullet is still the same, I have been giving her the polyvisol, vitE, selenium and prednisone since we last talked, She is still the same. I take her outside daily with me, she still runs around in circles, her head, neck is still the same in the pics above. I took her to the coop to see her sisters yesterday, and of course they don't seem to know her anymore, and she lost her balance and fell on her back a couple times and her head was under her, and she couldn't get up. In my house and when I take her out in the yard with me she doesn't do that. Other than the fact that she is completely spoiled not and follows me around, wants held, seems to know her name........ she isn't improving. I only had maybe 10 5mg prednisone pills that I had for my rheumatoid arthritis, so I broke them in half and gave them to her at first every day, and now I am tapering them off since that is all I have, and have to ween her off. I am following the link you game me as much as I can for treatment with the vits, E, selenium and pred. Do you think its the prednisone that works the best and she isn't improving b/c she isn't getting enough prednisone or can they heal without the prednisone. Should I keep giving her the other meds, or still ween her off of the selenium. I don't want to poison her with the selenium. Also, I have been giving her 1 full does of vitamins daily, the directions said a squirt but unsure how much a squirt was. I hope I am giving her enough off all the meds or not too much!!!!
Any advise from anyone that knows about this would be great
The selenium pills I cut in eights to try to get to the exact amount stated in the link you gave me

Should I just kinda start over, giving her Vits, E, selenium (almost out of prednisone) every day, Will giving her selenium every day for too long poison her...Gosh Im really confused

I just re read all of our posts on this, and realized I haven't been giving her and vitamin B. Should I give her this and the polyvisol? IF yes, how much and how often????? I have B complex pills that I take daily, do you think they are ok to cut and give her. I am just so afraid of poisoning her with too much.....On another note, I don't think she thinks she is a chicken anymore, lol, she is sooooooooooooooooo spoiled now. I do hope when she heals and goes back in the the mansion coop I have she will be ok and learn to be a chicken again since she has been living inside in a cage and let out to be outside with me, and let out inside the house -she likes the carpet!!!!! She follows me everywhere and sits on my feet-lol
Also I noticed she is much smaller and not as much matured as her sisters are, she eats and drinks a lot, and gets veggies, loves tomatoes. she has no problem eating and drinking, just noticed she is smaller and less matured, like her sisters have more matured feathering on them, they are ameracanas and get little tufts of feathers around their ear area, and hers haven't developed much, maybe she is just a smaller girl, who knows. Wow, I babble.....lolol

I cured my gal with out the steroid, I used poly vi sol vit e and selenium 3x a day for 2 weeks which was when she was straight and not crooked. It takes lots of time and dedication when they have wry neck. Just be patient and before you know it she will be back to her normal self.

Cherish Holland, can I ask you the dosages you used on the 3 medicines. My girl is a pullet, and weighs only 1 pound 12.8 ounces (just weighed her). Im afraid of poisoning her... Thanks for all your advise!

Yes I gave one vit e capsule which I poked and drained the e oil out of put that along with 3-5 drops of poly on a piece of bread and put the sel. I had 200 mg which I broke it into 4 pieces and mixed one of the quarters into the water source I gave poly and vit e 3x a day and the sel.water mix I changed every day. Sorry I have been busy so I haven't popped on here much. How is your chicken doing today?

Cherish Holland Hi, thanks for the info, She is the same no worse no better. More spoiled...I am giving her half poly 2 times a day,, 1 400 E 2 times a day, little piece selenium and almost weened off prednisone, since I didn't have much. The above I give her directly into her mouth. Do you think she is getting too much E and poly?

Well, my girl still has the wry neck, and its worse, she falls over now sometimes, I am starting over with the treatment, even though I never stopped. I don't have any more prednisone, but gonna do all the rest. I am wondering if me taking her outside to play (which she loves) and taking her down to the coop to keep acquainted with the other hens (which she doesn't like because they don't seem to remember her) may have been a bad idea. she was outside yesterday and my husband started up the mower and scarred her, and she now will flop backwards on to her back and flop around to get up. SOOOOO I have moved her into my office away from anyone and most noise (she isn't happy, wants out of her cage) but I wonder if I don't let her out if that will help for a more stress free environment for her to heal. She still eats and drinks fine. So I am just gonna start over with the treatment and that means giving her more than I have been giving her less.....any advise from anyone would be great!
