Help! My quail chicks are running over each other no matter how much room they have. Does anyone know what to do?

I had new quail chicks in a large tub with pine shavings in the base. From day one every few hours I was pulling out dead chicks where the quail would get active and run over other chicks. I have less than half of my chicks left. They have five times the room suggested and just seem to keep doing this. What can I do?

I’ve always had trouble with "stampedes" in the brooder too. They don’t seem to need a reason and putting things in the brooder to break up the flow didn’t really seem to help. Sorry I can’t offer any solutions. I’m gonna watch this thread to see if anyone smarter than me can.
