Well?!!! How is she?!!!!

some just dont do well from the shipping there is not much you can do try to chop the feed up even more in a grinder (coffee one will do but wash it out very well first so no coffee is there at all)

try some sugar in its water to perk it up. I lost 2 silkies every day for the first 4 days when they came from ideal, never had a problem before but like I said the bantams are more delicate and I always had LF shipped before not bantam chicks.

You do have to get food in her for her to make it, but even with everything you do she still may not, but these things happen.

if she opens her mouth to chirp and you can get a little food in then that is ok, but be careful and make sure she swallows it. start with the sugar water first maybe that will perk her up enough to eat.

good luck I hope she pulls through for you, and some one else with more experience can chip in

Well, I seperated her along with the other 2 self blues for company. I think she must be doing a little bit better because she wont shut up. Her crop still feels similar to what it did before though.
Now do I just leave her alone, or what?

I would just watch her for a while. Are the other two chirping like crazy? If she's chirping a lot, that usually means she needs something, but I can't tell you what to do next.

I had worse luck with my most recent shipment from Ideal. The first time I ordered from them, last October, I ordered 10 bantam cochins, and they stuck in 15 males for warmth. One packing peanut died in shipping, and the rest survived to maturity. This time I ordered standard fowl, and had one die during shipping, and 4 more over the next 3 days. I think the weather has been bad and they had a rough trip. These things just happen, and it's hard to deal with.

I hope your baby pulls through. Keep us updated!

oh hon I am sorry as soon as you said she was chirping non stop I new she would probably not make it. This is nature unfortunatly it was probably just not strong enough. Just know that you have a bunch of healthy ones too and that you can just give your love to them.

Gosh, I wish she hadnt died... She was specially picked because of her amazing vaulted head. I wish I could post a pic of how beautiful it was, but I doubt anyone wants to see a picture of a dead chick!

I'm so sorry, I know how you feel. I tried desperately to save my 3 little welsummers last week, and to watch them helplessly is heartbreaking.

I've read on here that a vaulted skull doesn't necessarily mean a great crest. Maybe some of the not-so-vaulted babies will be totally beautiful! We want to see pics as they grow.

Hang in there, love the ones you've got left.

Thanks everyone.
I emailed Ideal and they have the greatest customer service!
Since I lost some when they got here I am getting a reshipment on the 15th.
In the future (God Help me,) if this happens, should I automatically get them mash and sugar water?
Thanks again for everyones help last night.
