I have just moved my 2014 silkie chicks into the pen with my other chickens. There was a little drama to start with, but everything is fine now, and a pecking order has been established. One of my chicks, however, is showing some strange behaviour; she is hardly eating, she is quite lethargic, her yes look quite droopy and swollen, and she doesn't roost by herself. I am really worried, I have given her some vitamins and tried to find out what is wrong, but I don't know what it is.
Please help if you have any advice on what I should do, or you know what is wrong!
PLEASE!!! :fl:(

Poor Silkie. Keep giving her vitamins (avian mix or polyvisol without iron). The stress of introduction to the coop may have weakened her. You probably should separate her from the others. In this case I wonder if putting her in a dog kennel within the coop might be best (or some barrier where she can see the other chickens but have her own food, water and space). That way you can monitor her eating, drinking and pooping. If she is not eating at all or she gets any worse then you should bring her inside especially if it is still getting cold outside where you are.

You would probably get more responses if you posted in the emergency section and list any symptoms you notice: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

I hope your Silkie improves.

Thank you so much! I will do what I can, and use your advice. She was a little better today; she was eating more and drinking and she roosted with the others. Her eyes are still droopy and swollen, but i think I will rinse them with sterile water if they don't get any better. Thanks again!! You have really helped!! :thumbsup
