I have a 6-7 wk old silkie who's lower beak is no longer lined up with the upper. The beak itself isn't crooked, it's like her jaw is. She is otherwise happy and healthy, eating fine. She looked normal until this past Monday and since it has gotten worse. Is there anything that I can do for her? I think it's probably genetic, but she is the smallest and lowest on the pecking order. I have never seen her get beat up, just pushed aside.

This is a fairly common deformity. Do a search for cross beak. Some chickens live for years. Some need their beak filed or trimmed periodically. Often they need an open, wide dish to hold their food as they need to scoop it up. It can be a hatching problem or genetic so you probably don't want to breed this one.

This is just from reading, I've never dealt with it, so don't just go by what I say.

Thank you so much for your help. She is still doing well, I will do whatever I can to help her. Hopefully it won't get much worse
