This is the second time we have had a Silver Laced Wyandotte get sick with coccidiosis. The first time was with a batch of four silver laced wyandotte and an amercauna, we lost three wyandottes,(the amercauna never got sick) now I have another batch which includes a silver laced wyandotte and two rhode island reds. Last time I treated them with Sulmet but 3 still died. I do not want to lose this chicken.
I seperated them and gave them all Sulmet. I am really worried because of the other batch. Is there anything else I can do?
Are Silver Laced Wyandottes more likely to get coccidiosis? Every time we get them they get the same sickness, and they are the only ones who get it, no other breeds do when we get them. I got all my silver laced wyandottes from the same source, a farm store who gets their chicks from Ideal. I have gotten other chicks there that are healthy but the wyandottes are not. Is there a reason why?
