This is the second time we have had a Silver Laced Wyandotte get sick with coccidiosis. The first time was with a batch of four silver laced wyandotte and an amercauna, we lost three wyandottes,(the amercauna never got sick) now I have another batch which includes a silver laced wyandotte and two rhode island reds. Last time I treated them with Sulmet but 3 still died. I do not want to lose this chicken.
I seperated them and gave them all Sulmet. I am really worried because of the other batch. Is there anything else I can do?

Are Silver Laced Wyandottes more likely to get coccidiosis? Every time we get them they get the same sickness, and they are the only ones who get it, no other breeds do when we get them. I got all my silver laced wyandottes from the same source, a farm store who gets their chicks from Ideal. I have gotten other chicks there that are healthy but the wyandottes are not. Is there a reason why?

I don't know if wyandottes are more sickly or prone to cocci..
how old are they?
the one that's sick?
could be that the stress of changing environment..(shipped to feed store, then your place)..very stressful, and lowers their resistance.
could be a mix of sources and cross exposure..
do you disinfect the brooder?
please describe your set up.

describe the droppings..color and consistency
do they hunch up?
are they eating as normal?

what all do you feed?

check the crops?
what bedding do you use?
check for any other symptoms.

are you able to take a fecal sample to a vet for worm/protozoa(cocci) test?(sometimes called a fecal float)

what strength/formula is the Sulmet you're using?
is it a fresh bottle?
