Hello Everyone,
This is our first year to raise white broad breasted turkeys. We got 40 from Sunnyside Hatchery and 5 from local feed store that came from Cackle Hatchery. The first 20 we got of the 40 all died but two. Figured it was too many days to ship amd unexpected very cold weather. Sunnyside replaced and we doubled our order. Turkeys are now 9 weeks old. They are very scrappy looking as in dirty looking and end feathers are all beat up. No two are even same size some very runty to what appears normal size for age. We feed them turkey starter lots of fresh water and more than enough space. Some have runny stools have had from day one. We have wormed them as precaution didn't help. And to top it all off only a very few have normal looking feet. Four have broken feet hopping only on one foot. FYI And no one has any type of soars on their feet. The rest have knees bowing in or out or curling toes. They hobble all over. No one walks normal and appears will not make it to process with such weak feet and legs this early. The ones from feed store have no problems thus far, growing great, nice feathers, great feet and legs. Did we just get a really crappy hatchery anyone else use them? We are just at a loss so much time and money already put into this. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks, Dee
