Help - need advice for dealing with badly behaved chickens

My 3 chickens are out of control - their behaviour has progressively gotten worse over the past month. Altho its pretty cold now in Ct, they still insist on free-ranging every day or they scream bloody murder when they hear someone outside. So I've been letting them out and they are wandering wherever they please, including my neighbor's yard, my back deck and staring into the house through the french doors (this is particularly disturbing when I am getting dressed). Grace, the worst of the bunch, insists on getting in my car when I leave the door open while getting my groceries and has actually driven down the street with me before I noticed her.
They all LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the garage for some strange reason although they have gotten lost in there several times and have been unable to find their way out (a 2 car garage). When my husband was working in there the other day and wouldn't let them in, they pecked two good sized holes in the garage door. I'm sure its my fault for spoiling them but how do you discipline a chicken??

Here's a great image: you actually get all the way to the store before noticing her. Guess you could put her in that little seat they have in shopping carts for kids. Tell he if she insists on getting in she's gonna have to share the driving.

When mine get out of control I give them a 5min timeout in a special area that limits their movement. I tell them this is how poorly behaved chooks end up.

Yeah, I just call mine "chicken nugget" every time I see them for a few days. Usually gets the point across.

Of course, they know I'm a vegetarian so they know I'm just bluffing...

It does sound like you have a mischievious (sp?) little trio there, but I still had to smile.
I don't think you can solve any of those problems, other than putting up some sort of barrier to keep them out of your neighbor's yard. You really may want to do it this time of year, as the cold preserves chicken poop longer than it does in the summer. Your neighbor may not appreciate all the little yard decorations...

If not, you might want to fence in a larger area for them and maybe throw some scratch in there. Maybe they need something to do.

Although its kinda amusing, its really not a joke! Can you imagine being in a hurry to get somewhere and have to wrangle 3 chickens? Or finding one in your backseat and having to turn around and go home? I think you are right about having a fenced in area for them - they are taking over and dh is getting really ticked about the poop in the garage and now having to repair the holes they made.

Oh, and thanks for the KFC picture - that really cracked me up - I may print it out and hang it in their coop
