Hi!
My friends and I are making a club called The Mighty Green Team.

We plan on getting members and meeting and talking about how to help our community, such as recycling, picking up litter, etc.
As one of the managers of this green team, I need to think of good ideas we could do for the environment. The school already does recycling, but what else could we do???
Thanks and all suggestions are welcome!

(we are gonna make slide shows, posters, and collect members already)

are there any fun/"green" activities we could easily do???

You could take on the clean up of a creek or stream that really needs help back to good health.

If you have some people who sew, you could make cloth grocery bags to sell at a reasonable price and donate the profit to a green charitable group.

The group could promote local farmers and Community Supported Agriculture.

You could do some fundraisers and buy energy efficient light bulbs and then donate the light bulbs to the poor and elderly on fixed incomes.

Recently in my family we have had some premature babies born. We have been lucky are babies have gotten to come home quick. However it has brought our attention to how many are there for a long time.

You could maybe do hats and blankets for the hospital for the babies or even volenteer to rock the babies. Just a thought

You could get everyone at school to clean out their closets and bring in their "recyclable" clothing and donate it to a local shelter.

You could start a worm farm at the school and get the children to save their vegetable waste from lunch to feed the worms.

You could also work with the local school systems to start a garden or greenhouse...have the children grow two plots...one with compost and one without and let them compare the quality of the produce. A local preschool here did that and the children were fascinated and excited to bring home veggies that they grew themselves! If you have the worm farm you have the compost!

you could always raise some chickens!!!

Hope this helps!

Oh, I forgot...talk to your local 4-H or local Ducks Unlimited group...my husband has done some stuff with conservation/lectures for kids with both groups.
