It looks like a bad case of dry pox. It just has to run it's course. I usually put some Bacitracin on the pox to make me feel better. It's kind of like getting chicken pox

Can you post a couple of more pictures, and describe his symptoms? There looks like something black or gray inside his beak, which could be a sign of canker. If you live in Maine, and don't have mosquitoes yet, pox would not be a problem. The black marks on the comb and wattles could be peck wounds, but I would need to know where you live first.

Hello thanks for repling yes I live in maine and no there are no mosquitos yet he had gotten in a bad fight with a young rooster and i nursed him back to health with antibiotics and bactrin on his wounds he recovered but his neak started turning black and now je has trouble eating and drinking and his cock o doodle sounds like he is gargling water I would like one last chance to help him before putting him down he is 8 yrs old

Is his beak damaged from being attacked, or is there something black inside his beak. Can you look inside his beak to see if something is blocking the inside of his mouth or throat. Canker is a protozoal infection that can look like that. Fishzole or metronidazole will treat canker. If his beak is injured he may eat better if you can put some water in his food, and put it in a high sided bowl to make it easier to eat.

Yes his beak had a crack on the side of it from the fight but i put bactrin on it and gave him sulmet antibiotic. Its hard to kee p the hens from pecking at him because we let him outside the pen during the day and if the hens fly out they harass him. He is a very tough old guy thats made it through 8 cold winters and I would like him to enjoy one last summer. Its seems like its improving alittle so ill post a updated picture tomorrow thanks for all your help.
