Hello,

I started with a small flock of 10 mix breeds girls and 1 EEG Roo. They free range when we are home, which is most summer (teachers).

I hatched 4 eggs this Feb and got 2 girls and 2 boys. - now about 5 months old.

I think I have 1 roo to many and need help deciding which to get rid of.

Victor, My EEG Roo is just over a year. He is a good protector but not the nicest (fended off a halk and no one got hurt- so he has earned his keep). Not horribly mean, will just thump my shoes once in a while. Most of the time leaves me alone. He has been rough with the girls and had to put saddles on a few.

Sammy, 1 of the new boys is a full EEG, kind of small and friendly. He pretty much stays to himself, but will try to mate with some of middle of the pack girls. They are afraid of him and try to stay away from him. He behaves.

Frank, the other new boy is big, awkward and has attacked the bottom of the pack (trying to mate I guess). She is my 'Nervous' Nelly and has spent a few days in the woods to stay away from him. I had to go searching and carry her home.

I have separated him and when they are out, he is in run. And when we leave, he is out and they are in run.

I had always thought that I would get rid of the older roo cuz he has been mean to me (again, not terribly so) and rough with the girls. But he has seemed to be a bit more gentler now that the other boys are older.

But since the big boy has been scaring the crap out of my Nelly, I thought that he should go.

But maybe it would be better for the newbies to have the older guy go cuz then things would reestablish and then they would not be the outsiders.

What do you think?

If your roosters get along then it shouldn't be a problem, personally I would keep the older one and Sammy since they sound like the better pick, the older one clearly knows how to protect and Sammy would learn and should continue to be docile since he would be the bottom rooster

Thanks for your 2 cents. That was what I was thinking. Just wanted to get a few other opinions. Plus Sammy is very hansom. I will post a pic later.
