Hi all,

Htching some eggs for the first time and had 1 egg start cheeping and its started pipping, however have not heard anything for about an hour ? Is this a bad sign or is the chick just resting ?

Just resting. Give it time... It'll pop out! Good luck!

It can take a looooong time from pip to hatch. I don't even pay attention until they pass the 24 hour mark now, in the past I got very wound up! Probably just resting, hatching is hard work.

Yes it is just resting. It can take up to 48 hours for a chick to hatch, and somtimes

longer.

Thanks all ! New to this and a bit nervous as we didn't only put them in the incubator 7 days ago, Im guessing that they were under the hen for longer than first thought ?
