Ok we have a problem a few days ago 2 birds died suddently. One was a silkie that was less than a year old it had runny poop and seemed like it wasnt' eating. it got light we seperated it and it seemed to get better so we put it back with the other chickens. The next night we found both that chicken and a brahma hen less than one year old dead. The brahma did not have any signs of sickness. We noticed now that more chickens are getting the runny brown poop and the shaveings are starting to get brown/dirty. It also has a smell to it. The chickens also have a slight cough/sneeze and i noticed a few with a snot bubble comming out of there noses. Any help woudl be greatly appreciated. We already called the vet and they said they can't test for anything using the blood...... so we are here to ask for help.

edit to add egg production hasn't really had any effect except for one day it went from 10 to 3 eggs but its back to 10 eggs a day.

Also adding: The silkie was light the day we noticed it was sick. I noticed it was sick because it was face down on the ground and I thought he was dead. He couldn't walk well, like balance wise. He was also holding his wings down. The brahma that died showed nothing, that is why we are worried now. And notice the other birds sneezing a lot.
A barred rock that is about 2 years old is sneezing the most and is having raspy breathing.

We checked them again. Most are only sneezing, but a barred rock is making a gurgly sound with its mouth open. I think it is respitory, so should we treat with duramycin?

I'll give ya'll a bump and hopefully someone will be able to help. there is alot of good resources on custom search that might help too. sorry for your loss.

Sorry about losing your 2 chickens.. If they were mine I would give them all an injection of Tylan 50 once a day for 3 days to help them. And put vitamin and electrolytes in their water. Or sugar..

If they are not eating well then wet their feed down with the sugar water as it encourages them to eat.....

Have never tried duramycin.. Does it show on package to use for your chickens symptoms?

You can use the Tylan 50 orally if you are not comfortable giving shots. You still need a needle and syringe to get it out of bottle. I use 1/4 cc. for bantams and 1 cc. for full sized birds.

Check out the site for diseases and emergency help as others stated. Good luck and let us know how things are going....

Ok, I don't have experience with chicken respiratory diseases, but I'll give you all my best links that I have highlighted in case you would like to see them:

diagnosis charts at the bottom

look for the "my chicken has a cold, part I, II, and III articles"

If your chicken nasal drainage smells really bad, then it might be coryza.

I know it is not coryza, I would have known it was if they smelled.
Not sure if they have discharge or not. They did not have water most of today so when we have it to them, they got all wet, so I will check tomorrow. I have been told to use Duramycin/tetralycin, but if that is not available we will get Tylan.

They are all fine besides that. They eat/drink normally. I checked their eyes and they are not watery or cloudy. The only 'problem' is the sneezing, I thought more had been making a coughy noise, but Im pretty sure it was all the barred rock and she has been seperated. And as I said is making the gurgly sounds and breathing with her mouth open. She kind of makes a noise like something is stuck in her throat. But she also acts find otherwise.
