Hi, I’m hoping someone can advise me
I have 7 black tail Colombian chicken and they are wonderful, the only issue is they will not eat vegetables
I’ve tried to add stimulating foods in their pen for when we may be out for the day and they need to be penned
They have ignored the heads of green and white cabbage, also the broccoli a nd apples
Any ideas what I could hang

How about kale, lettuce and/or spinach in a suet cage? My girls love this. Also sometimes I leave pages from the newspaper. My girls like to shread it to pieces.
Lettuce I’ll try when it’s more plentiful , newspaper? Where do you put it? Should I choose a high brow copy 😄

Hi, as they love to dig, any dead leaves, grass clippings (if your lawn is being mowed). Anything they can rummage about in, dig and make holes in. Newspaper, as suggested earlier, shredded would be wonderful with treats put into it. Maybe if you grated the cabbage + carrot they might find it more fun.Even if some pellets are scattered .Feel sure they will be busy for hours. Chickens are competitive so if one comes across something, the others will want it too.
I feel sure any of the Sunday papers will do! :)

Thanks for the ideas, grating sounds a great idea, it’s a bit like hiding peas in my sons mash when he was small to get him to try vegetables!
I hadn’t realised how wary chickens can be about new food etc, except Cracker! She’s an explorer and first to try anything different, if I offer her the veg maybe the others will show an interest? I🐓

That may be worth a try!
