Help...neighbor gave me a pair of geese..I know NOTHING about geese!

Hi,

My neighbor gave me a pair of white geese. I know absolutely nothing about geese and the neighbor wasn't very informative. She said they eat weeds, grass, etc and in the winter she fed them oats?! They are both females, 1 year old. I have them in a 10 x 10 covered pen right now with a very small pool & igloo dog house to get them familiarized.

My questions are:

What kind of geese are these?
What do I feed them?
Am I safe to assume they need gravel?

I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get!

they need loads of space

grass grazing

waterfowl feed

and allow them to free range as normal

they wont really fly as they get heavy and are a domestic breed

Thank you soo much! They are sweet but a little thrown off by the move.

I will pick up some waterfowl feed tomorrow for them and let them free range in about a week. I do have a much larger pool for them for the future and about 4 acres of grass for them to enjoy!

Very pretty I have an Embden gander, and

there are a lot of predators who love goose so keep them safe especially at night.

I will keep that in mind! We have other prey animals (pygmy goats & peafowl) here as well so I tend to be cautious!
