My chick started contorting her body today. She's 5 weeks and curls her head backward towards her tail and flails. She can't stand. What could cause this? Please help.

It sounds like encephalomalacia or wry neck. It can be from a vitamin deficiency, a head injury, or from brain inflammation from certain diseases. Start her on vitamins--B1 or thiamine, E, and selenium are most important. You can use poultry vitamins in the water, or give PolyVisol without iron baby vitamins 2-3 drops daily by mouth. Selenium can be give separately or give some egg daily. Here are a couple of links to read, and the first has vitamin dosages:

The biggest problem you face is trying to feed and water her, as well as protecting her from being hurt by the other chicks, and limiting stimulation which can set off more symptoms. I hope she gets better quickly.

Poultry Cell by Rooster Booster, and Poultry Nutri-Drench are also good vitamin supplements that may be helpful.
So I read some stuff about crook neck and she's not bending it down, but up and to the side. Then she flails and falls backwards etc. Is it still the same thing?

Wry neck can have the neck to the side, down between legs, or looking up or over back (star-gazing.) She sounds like a classic case of wry neck. What breed is she? Silkies and polish can be especially prone to wry neck from injury since many have vaulted skulls. You can see pictures of many types of wry neck here--just click on a picture, and you can go to a page about each one:

Oh also she just got finished with a round if corid which I've heard depletes them. This is disturbing to watch though. It's like a seizure :(
