How did your flock annoy you today?

The other boxes are clearly haunted. A chicken would never act that irrationally, otherwise.

Only 1 girl my white bantam Cochin Laverne will use an actual nest box. The others fight over my old rabbit cages that they decided were better to lay in so they were turned into nest boxes. So now I have 7 rabbit cages turned nest boxes with 3 actual real nest boxes and most prefer only 3 of the 7 cages. 1 uses another rabbit cage and 1 uses the actual nest box. If anything is haunted it is the rabbit cages because yeh meat rabbits.

It's not annoying me, but probably my husband.

The chickens are in the basement again for the afternoon (last day of the heat wave). They've been really happy and quiet, but now Dandelion needs to lay her egg. She would very much like to go back outside to her 105 degree nest box and is making that well known through the uninsulated basement ceiling, right below my husband's office, during a zoom call.

"So it sounds like hitting 8 volts makes sense there..."
"BAWK BAWK BAWK BAWK BAWK!"
"... I'll make a note to isolate the-"
"BAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWKKKKKKKK!"

Update: She has made her peace with the indoor nest box. However, that seemingly required her to remove each and every shaving from the box. She will now lay her egg on un-cushioned plastic. Whatever...

I’ve been thinking about writing a book about my flock. It will be called Cecal Poops and the Chickens who love to Step in them.

What I especially „love“ is when they step into cecal poop and smear you with it, while you are picking them up, even better, when they smear the freshly washed T- shirt you just put on usually this happens when I have an appointment I can’t miss

My sweet cochin has recently discovered that it likes to climb on my shoulder. It's now very adept at flying to my shoulder when I reach into the brooder. While I was wiping poop from the top of the brooder plate for the 2nd time already before 9am, it settled in its spot. When I turned to look at my sweet little bundle of joy, it pecked me right in the eye...

I can almost do you one better, I was face to face with one of my chickens and was talking to it, what did it do?! Pecked me right in the gums

This really annoyed my hubby he really loves his foldable wooden chairs, after I took the photo, he put it away

My d'Uccle pullet now crows, so that's pretty fun and not at all annoying at 6am.

6am is late! Our rooster crows every night at 4am in total darkness.

Oh no!! That sounds awful! It took my eye 2 days to not feel bruised and puffy. The gums are such a sensitive place!

No, they definitely are not. I thought that as my eye was actually watering yesterday. Hoping she didn't leave behind anything funky. Ick.
