HELP!! New PEKIN owner

I have a male Pekin he is about 5 months old. I started noticing 2 days ago he is missing a lot of feathers on his back! I have no idea why or what has caused this to happen but it’s really worrying me. I don’t have the money right now to take him to a vet to be seen but thought I would ask here if someone has had this problem with their Pekin before as well.

Have you looked through his feathers? It looks like molt to me but I would look through his feathers for any red bugs aka mites just to be sure. I too have a male pekin, he is 6 months.

Any other ducks? Could be molt could be getting mounted by another drake. Are you seeing feathers laying around the pen or yard?

No he is the only one right now. I noticed a new feathers around our building in the yard last week but I haven’t seen any the last few days. I started thinking maybe some attacked him but our entire yard is fenced in so I’m not sure.

Does he have bathing water? I’d also look closely at skin making sure no parasites. But if he bathes daily rarely do waterfowl get parasites. Don’t for a sec think because you have a fenced yard nothing couldn’t get him. They have flying,climbing and digging predators .
