HELP! NEWBE HERE

Hi all,
I have 4 emu eggs in the bator cooking. I started them on 02/13/12, and have weighed them each week and have read that since this is week 39 to start tapping and that I should start to see them wiggle. Which I saw a couple of them this morning wiggle (I think)
Heres my questions:
1. Why did I weigh them?
2. What is the tap test and the whistle test?
3. THIS IS THE BIG QUESTION????? What do I do next? Do they have problems hatching on their own?

Thanks in advance for all of the answers. I am so excited but I'm a little intemidated by them.

I set them one day after yours, mine is wiggling a lot, see the video at hatchalong tread page 123 or 124, I can answer n2 tap is to determine if the egg sounded or not, to be honest my second batch of eggs I did nothing to them, just move them side by side, I tepp the day 39 and wiggles!!! the wisle test is to make them wiggle too, justt to determine fertility, but I didnt wheighted then, daddy emy doest has a scale!

lol.. daddy emu doesn't artificially incubate his either!.. and THAT'S the difference.. we use the scale to make sure the humidity is correct by gauging weight loss.. daddy emu doesn't need to do that since we are trying to do what he does naturally...

do not take me wrong..... I know that we are trying to do this artificcially, It was just a funny fact!!! I know that we have to adjust what nature does!!! but with the first batch I was weighting and doing uf everything straight, sharp, and with no sucess, the second did nothing and tara a baby,,, maybe this is just my experience, I know you all do the best to try to keep the babyes alive!..

i would hate to see someone take perfectly good, fertile eggs and not monitor weight loss or anything else thinking that they would get perfect hatches every time.. and then end up with problems that could have been prevented..

we know you did everything you could for your first eggs... you just had some really bad luck so there's no telling what happened to the first ones.. but I'm pretty darn sure that weighing them isn't what caused them to be duds.

I'm just really glad that you're finally getting some to hatch!


and ... by the way.. you owe us pics of the babies when they hatch!!!

Yes I will, I receive 6 more set 3 days ago! I did weight them as always so can monitor everything, you know after all this I found out that using a small box to weight its more accurate than to put the eggs right on top of the scale!!!. I will try to record the hatch !! will post a lot of pics of the babys emu vodka lol
