Thank you for taking care of them!

Just looked at one of your pics: There is more than one breed there...of the breeds, i saw Buff orpingtons and productions reds (either rhode island reds or new hampshire reds). I am not sure about the black chicks yet but i believe them to be black sex links and males (the white dot on the head means that they are male).

No - they are probably barred rock - that dot just means they will have barred feathers. If their legs are white rather than yellow then they are cuckoo marans. Dot does not = male unless you are specifically breeding certain kinds of sex links. ( solid roo over a barred breed hen )

awww they are very cute chicks, I think I see a couple BR's, a couple BO, and some sexlinks, or rir, comets not sure will have to wait until they are a bit older, even thought I spotted an EE, but too hard to tell when they so young and so close together. Very cute fuzzy butts though. They look happy as can be. Keep us posted how they are doing, and if you win anymore critters, still think this is just crazy, but who can resist chicks.

Could someone please translate this info(BR, BO, EE etc)? We've decided to keep 6 chicks- any recommendations on which 6 would be a good fit for a total newbie?

BR=Barred Rock BO=Buff Orpington EE=Easter eggers
Jump over to this chart to see the different breeds https://www.backyardchickens.com/breeds/breed-chart
Don't choose any chicks yet until you know which are hens or cockerals

When I read that post I thought the same thing - this person is new to chickens and won't know what they mean

BR = barred rock. Those are the black chicks with the white dots on their head.
BO= buff orpington. Buff colored chicks
EE = Easter Egger. If you have any they are generally yellow with chipmunk stripes and a "bearded" face. These are green egg layers.
RIR = Rhode Island Red I think that is what the reddish/yellow chicks you have are

The all yellow chicks are going to be white chickens. Not sure what breed. Probably leghorns? I have never had that breed so I don't know.

MYSTERY HAS BEEN SOLVED!!! Just got word- it was a practical joke from a couple of my hubby's buddies. They're in trouble for sure
