Curious how to orient a coop on our property...living in wet NW washington, and never having had chickens before - I am needing to know if I want windows where they will get light and sun or do I put the windows away from that (not that we get too much of either). I have loved all the stuff i have read on this forum so far - but havent seen this topic addressed. Love the pics of coops I have been seeing. Our babies come in June, so I have just a little time to pull something together, and still havent picked a spot to put the coop...so help if you can :)

Depending on how your coop is built, it'll be more important to make sure that the windows do not face the prevailing rain. The dryer the inside of the coop stays, the better.

That said, my coop has two large windows that face west to get the afternoon sun and one large window that faces south for winter. But I have huge overhangs that protect from all but the worst blowing rain.
