Help! On day 18 and I think I will lose all 9 eggs!!! SMALL AIR SAC

Thank you so much for your honesty! Sorry your son saw the pics,,, but thank you so much. This is just so hard, hearing her chirp,, but I really just needed to hear this honesty,,,, thank you and your son so much!
Oh, he's amazed me with his ability to deal with death and sick chicks. He's even been with me through eggtopsies (which I was hesitant to do with him, but he handled them like a champ and was very curious.) We took some extra roos to the Amish and were loading them in the car and he said something to them about liking their new home. I said "honey, they are going to the amish". He turned to them and the next thing I heard was, "I hope you guys like it in heaven." But in a very caring sympathetic way, not a psychopathic way.

So, he's good. (I won't tell you how excited he was to flush his first goldfish down the toilet when he died.) No worries about the pics.

I hope you are OK. When you incubate again, check-in with amylynn regarding the humidity and temps. Your next time won't be so stressful. You have dealt with the worst that can happen and gained valuable experience. You did a great job with the other 7. Enjoy them. Sorry again for this heartbreak.

Loved your story, but what is "eggtopsies"?

I did it, I CULLED her! It was quick and hopefully painless,,, I had sharp scissors and just put her back inside her egg and snapped her head off, then immediately wrapped her up,, and put her in a grave I dug earlier,, **** this was sad,, but I think I did good?

Bless your heart. That sounds like you did an awesome job. You are a very strong lady.

Now hubby is going to wake me up in the morning and ask me where she is?????? He will be ****** if I tell him what I did.,,,,

Well I am very impressed that you had the courage to handle it in a very caring manner. I am sure this thread will help others if they find themselves in a similar situation. Try and get some rest. Be assured that you did the best that you could for the situation and the chick is no longer suffering.

After hatch when you open the eggs that never hatched to examine them, we call that eggtopsy. Basically an autopsy on the egg to look at the chick and the conditions of it's death. Sometimes this can help pinpoint problems during incubation and what went wrong. Other times it leaves more questions than answers.

You did great. You did what you had to do and what was right for the chick. Strong lady and you should be proud of yourself. I know we are proud of you for being able to make the decision and follow it through.
