Help! One newly hatched chick pecking other newly hatched chick

No there is no need to be worried. This is quite normal behaivour for newly hatched chicks. This is how they learn and investigate things. This can sometimes look quite alarming and can be quite rough but they will be fine.

Congrats on your chicks and good luck with them :thumbsup

The pecking order starts from day one. Only intervene if you see blood.

Are they in the incubator or the brooder? Once you move them to the brooder pick a red bulb for the brooder lamp. It's easier on the chicks, and they get a little more sedate.

You could also give them a couple playthings - like a wooden block to hop on and off. A small colored ball they can push around. It can distract them from pecking at each other.

My ducks just hatched today! We had ten in the incubator but only two hatched right now. My ducklings are really pecking and standing on each other. Is that normal? What happened to the eight other eggs? Why didn't they hatch?
