help pekin duckk!

i ended up taking her to the vet because there was a lot of blood coming out of the cloaca. so i took her there and she believes she popped some blood vessels that got infected so now she is on antibiotics. she still is very depressed (i think), she just hangs out all by herself. if i do get her a duck id like a smaller breed of duck.... so any ideas what might be a good idea? ive loved runners but there big. any ideas on a smaller breed.???

So she is sick, not just depressed. Poor thing. Runners are not really that big, they are just tall. Mallards are smaller, but they can fly. Smaller than that and you are talking bantam ducks (Australian spotted, call ducks, silkie ducks, etc...) and they ALSO fly.

flying probably is nooo problem because i can clip there wings. im going to a duck farm tomorrow to see a bunch of different breeds that are a month old. if i put them together would it be a problem???

I'm very new with ducks myself but a friend gave me four pekin female ducks to practice herding with (carefully as they are heavy birds). He gave me a runner drake last wk to add to the adult girls and everything went very well. It seems ducks get along better and accept others, not like the chickens who will chase ea. other. Because of how they flock together, I think you won't have any problems adding another duck (or two). Good luck. Let us know what kind of duck you get! I sure hope your pekin duck gets better soon also.
