Help Pipped on the wrong end

Using the egg carton method of hatching. Nothing on one egg - while I was taking hatched ducklings out I picked it up and the duck had pipped a small whole on the wrong end. I put the egg on its side. Can see duck, but not bill through the pip and see breathing. Do I do anything??????

Don't do anything yet, because it can breathe. It may end up being alright. It's kinda 50/50, but give it more time.

Also, you should incubate on sides for duckies.

How many did you get?

I have eight out so far. To more in the middle of zipping. Two pips... the wrong end one and then one that has a little hole, can see the bill, not much else is happening at the moment. It is day 28 today.

Sounds like you did pretty good then! If the wrong end pipper doesn't make progress by about... tmw afternoon, I would begin intervening.

I have two that haven't done anything so far. The other one that just pipped... did a funny little nick first, then has a hole, the bill is right there, maybe it is just taking a rest. I think I will go to bed and then I won't have to wish I could help.

Yes, that one is just taking a rest. My last hatch here 2 days ago.. Took 3 days. I finally helped one a little on day 4. As long as they can breathe they are good. So you can sleep well.

It is hard to go to sleep. The one that pipped on the wrong end has a big enough hole to breathe, but its bill looks like it is in there a little ways. I need some sleep though... this hatching ducks is hard work. : ) Goodnight.

Stayed up a little longer. Little guy that pipped at the wrong end is making some progress. Off to bed now.... sleep deprived
