I'd second the laying it on it's side, doesn't matter if the pip is up or down as long as the egg is on its side.
now with that said just Tuesday i went to move some eggs from the incubator to the hatcher that my daughter had set, they are Marans eggs and the long shape of some make it hard to tell which end is up and she had placed one in with the air sack down, that chick had already zipped and was sitting on the turner rack healthy as can be on day 18 and all the siblings just hatched tonight, i'd of never thought an egg upside down would of hatched, much less that early!
