I got baby turkeys 2 days ago and they all seemed healthy. I got 2 broad breasted bronze turkeys which seem fine. And 2 Broad Breasted White turkeys. One of the white ones has become very lathargic and won't stand up. I need help. What can I do to fix it or could it be saved?

This is my first time raising turkeys.

I have only raised one batch of turkeys from day-olds, but also had some problems with them initially. They are now full grown and are laying eggs of their own, which are currently in my incubator. They are heritage turkeys (Midget Whites, Narragansetts and Bourbon Reds).

Like everyone says, they are really delicate for the first week or two. I lost about 1/3 of them (I started with 15); when they were about a week or two old, one was dying every day. I had been feeding them gamebird starter, but began giving them mashed hard-boiled egg yolk mixed with Greek yogurt as a supplement. I didn't lose any more after they were getting the egg/yogurt mixture, and they have done very well.

I hatched three to four brood of turkeys every year for five years, and found this to be common. If i could get my turkeys past the one week old stage i found that almost everytime the rest would survive. Its just first week for must birds to be the winning or breaking point. Turkeys are big birds and they need LOTS of protien to grow strong and healthy. After the first 24 hrs of them hatching you need to get lots of protien in them or they will fade out and almost always die. I started to feed my hens with insane amounts of protien to make their eggs healthier and the yolks more rich to enhance the poults starting energy. Off course thats all out of your hands, for now if he dosent start eating soon he will fade out and die. When i noticed them losing energy i would sometimes force with them in my hand and a syringe and they would sometimes snap out of it. It could also be sick.
