I found blood on an egg and looked to see one of my 9 month old hens bleeding from her vent. What would cause this and what should I do?

Ok. Upon further inspection after cleaning her up, i think it looks like s cut up above her vent? I wonder if there is s bit of a nail sticking out in the coop...? I just don’t know what else

Ouch! Could it be a pecking wound? Where is she in the pecking order? It's winter. My birds are more cooped up in winter, and they get restless. Add grumpy molters to that, and it could get downright nasty if they didn't have enough room and exercise!

I'd separate her, clean that out (it looks like you've done that already), and let her heal. Poor girl. Once she's better, I'd find the culprit (if that IS a pecking wound) and separate her to bring her down a few notches.

ok, I really need help. I have now THREE hens with this!!!! It almost seems as if the blood is coming from split skin? I have two brown hens and an Easter Egger all with the same thing. I can’t figure out what happened!
