HELP!!!!!!! Please chickens sick

i havea white leghorn who is 5 months old she is very sick. her syptoms are eyes shut.barely moves. feathers falling out. comb white(pail) and nose running. help needed

How long has she been this way?
How hot is it by you?
Does she have external parasites? mites/lice?
Is she eating/drinking?

You can start by isolating, giveing electryltes. I am guessing a respritory infection possibly? Too old for cocci.

A chicken is never too old for Coccidiosis. All they have to experience is a strain that they haven't encountered before. They will have no resistance against it.

I am guessing that you are dealing with a respiratory infection. The best thing to do is to get Tylan 50 and start her on it immediately. You can give it by injection or by mouth. You can put it on bread or some other goody and feed it to her or, just dose her with it. She sounds very ill...with that pale of comb. You need to get some protein into her...mealworms, scrambled egg, chicken livers, cat food...you can try a mash with crumbles, yogurt and water.

Poly vi sol, without iron, .5mls per day, would be a good thing to do for her also. Good luck with your pullet!

I've been thinking about this post. Have you ever dewormed your chickens? If not, I would suggest having a fecal exam done to determine if you are fighting a worm infestation.

If I were you, I would start her on Corid. You will need to use an eyedropper and dose her with the medication. You use the amount of medication that you would think she would eat in one sitting. Do this every two hours until she is drinking well on her own. If you see no improvement in 24 hours, I would then consider the other option.

It sound like a respiratory infection or maybe heat stress? I had a hen show the same symptoms but I immediately knew it was heat stress. I found her minutes away from death. She wouldn't move, couldn't lift her head, had mucus coming from her nose and mouth, her comb was very pale. I took her inside and held her over the air conditioner until her body cooled. You could literally see the life in her body leaving her. It was terrifying. I got her cooled off though and she was back outside the next day, fine and dandy.

If she's still in the heat, move her inside. I would give her electrolytes, corid, and duramycin (antibiotic) to cover all your bases. Up her protein intake, maybe give her some yogurt, scrambled eggs or something. Good luck with your girl! Keep us posted!

You shouldn't give Corid and Duramycin together. Both would need to be mixed in the water. Treat with one, then the other if the Corid doesn't work.
