Help please - eggs pipped 1st thing this morning - still not out!!

We have 20 eggs hatching . At least 1/2 have pipped, in different stages. Using Hova-Bator, with the water dishes under the wire tray. Maintaining temp at 100. Dishes full.

However, one or two are showing signs of chick stress (LOUD peeping) and they pipped 1st thing this am. No addtional shell cracking or signs of emerging... more than 12 hours later.

Bad ?
I know we are not supposed to help them... but she/he keeps yelling quite loudly. I feel for them.

You have plenty of time. It can take 24 or more for them to hatch.

it can take up 48 hours in my chicks to come out after they pip sometimes. just give it time and they will hatch

Here comes the hard part, to intervene or not to intervene that's the question. You still have some time, but if you feel in your heart that it's going to die anyway, I would help. But, that's my opinion. I hope yours pop out all on their own.

Thanks for the support - I appreciate it. It just sounds like their stressed. I guess from frustration?? (tiny space - let me out!) lol....

so 24-48 hours After they have done their first hole? Wow.

Last year it was easier. We had our girls raise them. This winter we lost those broody mommas to foxes, so dd wanted to raise them ourselves.

As you say - seems to take forever.

Any concerns about humidity with this model of bator???

I truly don't have a number for the humidity - It's a hova bator still air model with 2 windows and a square heating element. Air temp we keep as tight as possible to 100. (digital therm that doesn't do .5 degrees - only whole numbers)

So for humidity, on the last 3 days I keep ALL the water dishes / trays in the plastic tray designed by the company for this - filled - with warm water upon pouring it in.

Only way I can think of to increase it would be a sponge or something....

it's the no change in "egg cracking status" in over 12 hours that' s bugging me... I would think it would take a while, but there'd be progress.
