Hello!
I have many button quail.
I realize that it is rare for a button quail to be a good mother. My button quail are less than a year old, and have just started laying eggs. They aren't sitting on them consistently or for anymore than a few minutes, but they do make piles of eggs. About one egg a day with 5 females laying. Are they going to eventually choose to sit on their eggs? Should I remove them? I have an incubator with some of their eggs in them, and could be starting another batch in the same incubator. They will be staggered because I have two incubators and have one for lockdown. Anyways, my question is.... Is it likely that it would be best if I removed the eggs to collect for a clutch to incubate or should I see if any females will be good mothers? Are they waiting to get a bigger amount of eggs before starting to sit? Or what?
Thank you so much.
