Help, please...Gosling peeping in shell for 24 hours

HELP! I have a wee emergency. My son's puppy swiped an egg (The only one) from my goose nest. Believing it was non-viable my husband set in on kitchen counter. A bit later I realized it was peeping! I immediately returned it to the nest, but the mother has not returned to sit. have hatched ducklings but have no experience with geese. How long can it go without her and when do I rescue? Have no incubator for this LG of an egg, but may be able to manage with my heat lamp or a light bulb. Need appropriate temp for pipping please. Also I know the egg should have not been turned at this time..suggestions please

Keep the egg as close to 36-37°C and don't turn it.

Try and shine a torch/light at the smooth side of the egg and see if you see movement.

My goose left her nest before 3 days before hatch and I used a heating lamp and they some hatched. Make sure if the heating lamp is the only way to warm the egg that it is high enough so the egg doesn't get to hot but make sure it doesn't get too cold.

Too cold is better than too hot and that is super important!

If you have no thermometer feel the egg constantly and check if you think it feels right (not too hot or cold).

Every 3 hours soak the egg in Luke warm water because the egg is going to lose a lot of moisture.

Yes, I know it is illegal to keep them if they are Canada geese. I will know for sure, once they are hatched, where they will be going. If they are his friend's parent's eggs, they will be kept as pets. I'm hoping they are domestic geese. I'd love to have them.

It’s not, ONLY, illegal to keep them if they’re Canada geese. It’s illegal to even have them in your possession. To even take them from a nest is illegal. The DEC will fine you so fast and potentially jail you if they’re see this. It’s not hard for law enforcement to find out who you are through an account like this one. Honestly, you would have been better off not even mentioning anything about them being wild goose eggs. I’d HATE to see you get in trouble for this but I figured I’d let you know so you don’t get blind sided if DEC shows up asking questions. Good luck.
