Hi, I haven't been this nervous since I had my first child!

Ok, the first little hole in an egg appeared at around 2:00, its now 4:30. nothing has changed, I just checked and I can't hear it peeping any more. I candled it and can see movement. I gently put it back exactly as it was. I have been keeping the humidity up and misting the inside of my incubator through a vent hole to avoid opening and closing it.

Should I be worried?
thanks

You're fine.

Sit on your hands and try not to open the bator. Hatching is hard work and can take up to 24 hours.

Yep, its hard.

I just had some hatch a day ago. I noticed 3 pips at 10 am. It took some of them quite awhile (like more then 8 hrs) to hatch. Some were faster.

The next day, 2 eggs were left in bator. My 5 yo dd found another chick! I had checked the temp and humidity as I still have other eggs bating, but never noticed a pip. I guess its pip, zip and hatch were pretty quick!

And as far as chirping, I was worried that I didnt hear any either, when I had earlier. But, a few of the pipped eggs werent chirping at all, nor rocking while I was looking. 1 sat there all day doing nothing at all. It was the 1st one out (and the smallest of the chicks).
