Help please! Incubating eggs.

Okay, here's my story.

I was handling my eggs on day 19/20. Because I suspected some quitters. I had one obviously quit. And another one I was SURE had quit like a week ago with all the extra light coming through!! So I cracked open the first one and was right. It was just a rotten egg. *barf* anyways I go to crack open #2 and nope! The baby chick is still alive!! It started kicking it's little legs and now it's just motion-less. This eggs is day 20. Could it still be okay since it's only 1 day away Or should I just Chuck it?

If you go in and open a 20 day old chick egg, the chick wouldn't make it. The vascular system between egg and chick would be severed, and chances of unabsorbed yolk would still be high. That doesn't look like a fully formed 20 day chick to me, as all I see is a foot. That could be because the bloody membranes are covering it.

I don't throw out any eggs past day 10 because after that it is too hard to tell. I made the same mistake my very first hatch, felt like crap and vowed never to do it again, so after day 10, unless it smells or leaks, it stays in.

Oh, and even after hatch if I have any that haven't hatched when I do eggtopsies, I start in the air cell and remove a piece of the shell so that I can verify no movement, that way there's a little chance that if I am wrong, they might still be able to survive and hatch.

I am so upset! At my own stupidity! Lol! Why did I not think to start at the air sac!! Thanks so much for your help!!
