Hi. I recently posted abt racoon problems (killed one hen and bit the other but the bitten one is fine.) We got a live trap as people suggested but when we got back from picking it up, we found our roo with half his comb bitten clean off. Im not allowed (and dont want to) look but my sister says she thinks maybe one or both eyes is injured and says it looks like it bit his head (he has a rose comb.) He is a nice rooster, gold laced wynadott. Currently in our bathtub inside of a box. Really dont know what to do!!!! were unsure of other injuries but that might just be it. I could hear him breathing very heavily and it sounded labored. He is about 5 and a half years old give or take. Hes one of our best roosters... very defending of his flock and loves his girls. What do we do ? 🥺

I'm sorry for this situation and for your roo, there's no way for us to help unless someone is able to get pictures and apply first aid.
Start by rinsing the area with warm water, apply an antibiotic ointment and keep him warm and in dark.

I will see if my sis can get pics. I really want to avoid looking, because i hate blood and im very quesy. For first aid, will tripple antibiotic and healing honey help? i believe thats what it's called.

You may have to force yourself to look for all of his injuries and take pictures, in order to help him. Homemade saline (1/2 tsp of salt in an 8 ounce cup of water,) chlorhexidene, or a wound spray for animals such as Vetericyn are good to spray or dab on wounds. Then apply the triple antibiotic ointment or the healing honey twice a day. Pay attention to any puncture wounds from teeth, which can form an abscess. Help him to eat some mushy wet feed made fresh daily, and some cooked egg or tuna. Keep us posted on how he is doing.
