I think I am going blind, there was a post on here within the last two weeks.
The guy was talking about his use of supplements and amino acids and how they had cut his birds feed consumption and upped their rate of gain. I meant to save that post and now can't find it . . . anyone else mark/save it?

I do remember an itemized bill from somebody showing the exact mix of his custom ground meatie feed , but nothing else . I used to mix feed at a feed mill and before that also did the mixing for the feedlots on a large farm in which things were adjusted to the high lysine corn we grew for feeding . Both simply used protein , mineral , trace mineral , and vitamin suppliments according to formulas supplied by Purina or Kent . The Cobb management link I posted on another thread does have the exact proportions of nutrients listed , but buying supplements that come in bags or buckets that will be used to mix many tons of feed just isn't an option for small scale operations . Since I'll be feeding on very small scale starting next month , I'm starting with one 40 lb bag of 21% meatie feed which I will boost up to 24% for the first week , then by the third week the CornishX selected for breeding will be down to 18% and those chosen to cull adjusted down a little also , probably to a straight 21% . When allowed [ or forced LOL ] to pasture graze , their diets are automaticly lowered in protein unless their getting a lot of bugs , certain seed heads , etc. . A pasture penned chicken on grass will not be getting much protein off that green grass if they eat it .
