Help Please! Need to treat a cut on a turkin

My turkin's neck has a cut about 1/2 inch long. It is clearly visible because it is where there are no feathers. It is straight and clean, like someone did it with I razor blade (I suspect it may be from a nail sticking out in the coop--haven't hammered them all down yet, but now it is top of my agenda list!)

I treated it like I would a cut on my kids, with peroxide, but the band-aid wouldn't stick--who knew that the bare skin is actually a little fuzzy? Is there anything else I can do? When she turns her head to the side it opens up, and I'm afraid it'll split open wider.

I'm not sure, hopefully others will chime in soon. Have you tried those bandaid type sutures? they are supposed to make the skin pull together. Here is a link to a previous post about wound care. Look for "Pop" he gives detailed info that really helps.

Just keep it as clean as you can, put ointment on it, daily. You're not going to be able to keep a bandage on a chicken...

pine tar soap works really well one of my chicks scraped some skin off of her leg I smeared the soap on and it hardened and formed a bandage the scrap heal perfectly hopefully your turkens cut will too, good luck

Wow, such great responces, and so quickly! I was worried when I first saw the cut, but after reading some of the other posts I realize that it could be so much worse! Thanks for all the links, too. It's already dark outside, but at first light tomorrow I'm going to put some Neosporin on it.
