Hi all, we got 3 lovely hens for our allotment about 2 months ago and they've settled in fine and are happy and laying well. We decided early on we needed an extra hen for their coop, so got another hen maybe 2 weeks later. Our first 3 took a few weeks to settle into laying but like I say all laying fine now, and our 4th hen has started laying regularly over the last couple of weeks. She's a dark feathered girl (no particular breed) and is almost identical to 1 of our others who lays dark, speckled eggs... however hers are almost white with little bumps along the top and bottom. She gets layer pellets, trimmings from our allotment and the occasional treat of corn with mixed grit available for them to help themselves to. If anyone has any advice for why her egg shells are so pale it would be really appreciated :)

I'd give it some time before thinking about changing feeds....
...it's not really a problem unless the hen show signs of illness or egg get significantly 'bumpier'.

ETA: oh, and, the color of shell is nothing to worry about either.
Just because the hen look the same doesn't mean they are the same breed/mix...
..even if they are the same, all birds are individuals and the egg coating can differ in hue.
