Please help! Our rooster has had some sort of trauma to his comb, wattles and his right eye (which is shut). There was quite a bit of blood coming from his comb and wattles. I sprayed the area with Vetericyn and isolated him from the rest of the flock. We have recently introduced new 7-week-old babies to the coop in a see but no touch area inside the coop. Yesterday, we changed the area to one that has slats wide enough apart for the babies to get through but not the older birds. About mid-morning today, I went back out there and his head and neck were through the slats and there was blood on the boards, his comb, wattles and feathers. He seemed to be stunned. He still seems to be stunned (in shock?). I have him in a dog crate in the covered run. It is about 48 degrees outside. Should I bring him inside the house to keep him warmer? There is a severe shortage of avian vets in my area - I have been trying all morning to get someone to see him. Looks like I can get him in to see someone tomorrow morning. I’m very worried about his eye. Is there anything I can or should be doing? Thank you SO much for your help.

Thank you. He is also a really sweet guy. I think he actually rammed his head into the slats trying to get to the "little kids" which is really out of character for him to be aggressive. We have eight 7 1/2 month olds (3 roosters and 5 hens) that all seem to get along really well. He is "head" rooster. He probably sees these 9 newbies (7 1/2 week olds) as a threat. We have really tried to introduce them in stages to try to avoid conflict.
