One of my year old runner ducks is sick.
She has been looking thinner but has had a great appetite.
I feed Flock Raiser and she free-ranges daily with the others;
lays a daily egg; normal activity level -until today.
She has been quiet today and did not come running for her supper; never happened before. I found her and carried her to her pen. She is very thin.
She didn't eat but drank some.
She was standing very still, no preening, etc.
What do I need to check ?
Do ducks need worming ?
Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated.

Sometimes ducks need worming, but they can also get internal infections.

Can you get her to a vet?

You can give her poultry vitamins. The kind with electrolytes and probiotics is best.

Sorry to hear that your duck is sick.

Yes, ducks do need worming. I would recommend worming your duck with a tablet wormer that covers tapeworm.

I am not sure what you have available in the US but here in Australia I use Vetafarm Wormout tablets. They are a good quality wormer. I would recommend using tablets as you then know that your duck has had the proper dose.

Other than that is is hard to say what might be wrong. Have you seen your duck pooping? Does it look normal?
